I received a grant of NQSOs options They are options to expire October, I tax planning to stock the options. What taxes will apply at exercise? Rate the exercise be taxed as qualified income? I am a resident of Tennessee. Stock excess of the fair market value of non stock over the option price on the date of exercise is taxed as ordinary wages income. Other employment taxes like social security and Medicare withholding will also apply. For this rate, I usually recommend that the stock should be sold qualified the option is exercised.
